Lu Yun couldn’t help but tremble violently. He’d viewed the three hundred and sixty-five nihil powerhouses as heroes, marveling at their sacrifice for the greater good. It now looked like that was the furthest thing from the truth.

Few were those that the young man fully trusted. Other than his dao partners and son, there were only Fuxi, Mo Yi, and the Dao King. He didn’t doubt what the Dao King said—or rather, he had no reason to suspect anything the man said. He even knew that the Dao King wouldn’t blame him were he to turn around and leave right this second, taking his people into the world of the Tome of Life and Death and never getting involved in the affairs of existence again.

The man wouldn’t even bother him if he went down that path.

“Alright, I understand,” Lu Yun nodded. “Will we have peace once the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods are dead?”

“In a sense,” the Dao King sighed. “The nihil reveres the three hundred and sixty-five as their gods, so it won’t be that easy to kill them. Remember how there are mortals who do not cultivate in the Three Thousand?”

“Yes, and aren’t the altars they worship your work?” Lu Yun raised a brow.

“Those are altars to the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods… They steal God’s power to reduce him to a mortal state so they can replace him.” The Dao King lifted his eyes to the sky. “God was the strongest powerhouse within and without the nihil. The three hundred and sixty-five demon gods inherited… no, they used his benevolence to steal his power.

“If all three hundred and sixty-five demonic seeds are gathered together, they will possess God’s power. There is nothing that God cannot do, no world he cannot create. Even I am no match for him.”

“But Mo Yi can defeat God?” Lu Yun’s heart skipped a beat.

“Yes, the mistress can defeat God,” the Dao King nodded. “So the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods wish to eliminate her. Her past and identity are strict taboos within the chief worlds and existences outside of it.”

Lu Yun finally understood the situation.

Everyone in the chief worlds seemed to know about Mo Yi, but they were all hesitant to broach the topic with him. It came across as a concerted effort to keep him in the dark, but the real reason was that they were unable to speak of anything regarding Mo Yi due to certain rules.

There were only two real existences in the universe—the Three Thousand and the patch that the chief worlds was part of. The real name of the  chief worlds’ patch was the primordial world of immortals.

All other existences were fake and their inhabitants the corpse bugs of dead bodies.

Ancestor had been proceeding according to his original plan when he manifested his existence. His side wanted to create a new existence to replace the Three Thousand so it could grow and occupy all of nothing.

But in reality, they’d been playing into the hands of the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods. Their plans were what the demon gods wished for them to achieve. It wasn’t until Mo Yi was attacked by their wills when she entered the primordial world of immortals that the Dao King realized their true motive.

Occupying the Three Thousand was never their goal. They wanted to kill Mo Yi for her nihil true spirit, just like how they stole God’s power.

Other than Mo Yi personally taking the field, there was another way to kill the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods—have existence expand to the point of devouring the nothing. However, that would entail Mo Yi’s mutual destruction along with the demon gods.

Thus came the Land of Reincarnation.

The Dao King stood in Mo Yi’s place again and again, enduring her tribulations for her until she finally severed her connection to the nothing. She was a true being of existence now. The primordial world of immortals had reached the point of ascending to the nothing, so the Dao King orchestrated its destruction to facilitate everything beginning anew.

Unfortunately, the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods also realized their intentions and began to stir, entering the primordial world of immortals to take things into their own hands.

They injured Mo Yi to the point where she no longer commanded her former strength. If the demon gods continued to awaken and enter the primordial world of immortals, there was no possible outcome for her other than death. The Dao King couldn’t hold them off and neither could God, Pangu, Hongjun and the others. Not to mention, the demon gods commanded armies of nihil powerhouses under their banner.

Even beings such as Jiang Chen and Unrest had unwittingly become one of theirs. Only those within the world of immortals were left in the Dao King’s camp.

There’d been Yun Yi as well, but she’d sacrificed herself to ensure the completion of their plans. Not even her father was trustworthy in her stead.

“Let’s charge into the nothing before they’re fully awake and kill them all!” A crazy light suddenly danced in Lu Yun’s eyes.

“I tried once, but I failed,” the Dao King chuckled ruefully. “How hard is it to destroy an existence, especially considering they’ve become the Major Cycle Worlds of the Three Thousand? They are intricately tied to the realm. Both prosper when one finds glory, both perish when one falls.

“We can kill them only after they awaken and terminate their connection to the Three Thousand.”

It wasn’t due to the Dao King that the Three Thousand didn’t grow, but the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods continuously devouring its core essence. But by now, no one believed anything the Dao King said.

The overseer was the most evil being within the nothing and existence, the enemy of all creation.

“Can’t we do anything before that?” Lu Yun asked subconsciously as his brow furrowed tight.

“Yes!” the Dao King nodded. “Increase our strength so we can kill the demon gods after they awaken!”

Lu Yun lowered his head and quietly operated formula dao.

“If all three hundred and sixty-five awaken at the same time, they will jointly possess the strength of God. What if they awaken one by one?”

“Awaken one by one?” The Dao King looked blankly at the young man.

“They will immediately possess the strength of God if they wake up together. What if we let them wake up one by one? That breaks their collective power and will make it much easier to eliminate them.”

Formula dao operated continuously as it whirred through various possibilities.

“Hahaha!! Tailong was right, you are very suited to be our strategist!” the Dao King roared with laughter. They’d thought of the idea before, but they weren’t able to determine a way to ensure that the demon gods woke up one by one.

“The altars!” Lu Yun raised his head. “There are three hundred and sixty-five major cycle altars hidden in the Three Thousand. That is their core essence! We can use them to dictate who we want to wake!”

His eyes gleamed. “We need your eyes of great dao to investigate. The altars are hidden among the mortals who do not cultivate!

“We’ll need them to give up their faith if we want to completely destroy the demon gods, or they’ll resurrect through the beliefs of the people.”

That was one of God’s methods.
