Omegaverse: The Alpha X’s Prey

With sweaty palms and a palpitating heart, Easton read the rest of the note aloud.

"Rest ȧssured, you are NOT in any danger, contrary to what your mothers believe. And just something I thought you should know: Donovan is NOT your brother. You know what to do if you want answers. To the boy who came to me from the east, Happy Birthday. ~M"

Easton didn't know what to make of this note. It is a lot of information he needed to digest. A lot of information he's skeptical about its truthfulness.

He turned the letter over and looked at the insignia again. There was a very distinct cursive M. Looking at it closely, Easton noticed that the insignia looked like a family crest. Who's? That he didn't know. Out of frustration, he flung the note across the room.

One thing Easton did know for certain, is to keep this newfound information to himself. His already paranoid parents don't need this to add to their worries. Well, that's the unselfish way of putting it. Deep down, the real reason why Easton didn't want to let his mothers know is for fear of their reaction.

He doesn't want to live a life confined to a single room. Isolated from society. Easton is just like everyone. He wants friends, he wants to have fun, and above all, he wants to find his mate.

Easton got up and picked the note up, deciding to examine it for more clues. From what is included Easton knows:

-The sender's name has an M (well that much is bloody obvious)

-M knows his name

-M knows his parents

-M knows mothers' beliefs that he is in danger

-M knows his birthday

-M knows Donovan

He scanned the note once again. The last sentence confused the boy greatly. What did M mean by "the boy who came to me from the east"?

Easton doesn't remember traveling anywhere or meeting anybody besides his family, who lives under the same roof as he.

Also, what did M mean that Donovan "is NOT your brother"? Of course Donovan is his brother! While it is true he does stick out like a sore thumb with his auburn/red/orange hair and similar colored eyes, that doesn't mean they're not family.

An inkling of doubt trickled into his mind. Easton would be lying if he said he'd never had the feeling that Donovan's adopted.

Firstly were his looks. Secondly, the subtle way Iris and Gabrielle treat him. Especially alpha mother. Easton has noticed on numerous occasions that his alpha mother does seem to disregard Donovan. It's something only a child can notice: the difference in treatment from their parents between them and their siblings.

Easton never gave it much thought as he thought his parents were giving Donovan space to be independent, since his oldest brother decided to move into the college dorms once he was accepted.

Even though the university isn't even twenty minutes away from their house...

Could Donovan know he's adopted? No, that can't be right...

But on the other hand...

Is that why he always caved into his younger brothers' requests, no matter how atrocious they were? Is that why he moved out as soon as he became a legal ȧduŀt?

So many questions, so little answers.

"You know what to do if you want answers."

Does he? Easton doubts it. He can question his parents all he wants and they wouldn't budge. But does he want answers?

No, that isn't the right question. It should be:

How badly does Easton want answers?

Easton decided that eighteen years of isolation and being kept in the dark is enough. Putting on a brave face, Easton marched to the door...

Before turning back to hide everything. Can't make that mistake again. This time, Easton hid everything under a loose bathroom tile. The same place where Easton safe keeps all his allowances.

Satisfied, he marches back to the door, only to find out there's a commotion from the screen. Iris had installed it to let Easton know when it's not safe to come out, whenever there was company over.

Dejected but still determined, Easton has his heart set on his decision. The choice that will change the course of his life forever.

But it'll have to wait until dinnertime.
