Chapter 98 - Punish

"Great decision, your highness," Litian grinned.

"Agreed," Feline smiled, Desilva showing Dominic a thumbs up.

Dominic blushed, hiding his face for a second.

'How cute,' Axel chuckled, catching a glimpse of Dominic's blushing face.

"That's only if I get the lists on time… right?" Dominic smiled at Axel and Desilva, this time his kind eyes held a glimmer of threat.

"Yes sir," Desilva saluted, Axel agreeing with her with a nod.

"Good, but now down to the final issue, clothing," Dominic sighed.

"Clothing…" Desilva muttered, turning to Axel in confusion, "what do we do about that?"

"Is there any loose pair of clothing we have? In fact… What is the percentage of supplies we have right now?" Dominic asked.

"OH!" Desilva exclaimed, digging into her pockets and pulling out a piece of parchment paper, "I wrote down the list of supplies we had while I was gathering the list of physicians."

"Huh?" Dominic muttered, looking down at the paper in her hand and back up into her eyes.

"I felt a bit useless because I may have had the title escort but I didn't do anything like that yet. Spying is something that can be easily done and somewhere between watching everyone moving with purpose when I just sat around watching others and writing a list made me feel useless so I wanted to go one step further even if it might now be useful," Desilva smiled nervously, fiddling with the flower bracelet she had made before the meeting.

She handed Dominic the list, her eyes darting from him to the others nervously, "written in this list is the food supply that we have currently and also the amount of clothing we have ready for use. There's additional information at the bottom in case you needed more information like the rate in which they work and the amount of things that have to complete things."

"Oh…" Dominic mumbled, taking the paper from Desilva's hand.

"Was I doing too much there?" Desilva sighed, scratching her head, "I do go over the limits sometimes.. Maybe I should have held back."

"No," Dominic grinned, raising his hands up and setting it on Desilva's head. "You did good," he smiled, ruffling her hair.

He didn't notice it but the room immediately sank into tension at that little action and 3 sets of murderous eyes laid upon Desilva.

"Maybe I should have thought about that too," Dominic chuckled, patting her head and then returning his hand back to his lap to hold the other side of the parchment paper, "maybe I should work on thinking deeper into things."

"You're doing well, your highness," Litian commented, praising Dominic.

"You're always so positive Litian, it refills my energy, thanks," Dominic giggled.

Two sets of eyes fix on Litian.

"This is going to be useful, thanks Desilva. We'll be using this to be able to find the right amount of stuff to use to save materials but still have nutritious meals, but first we need to slowly pull them away from eating the meals that they eat right now," Dominic suggested.

"What do you mean?" Litian asked, cocking her head.

"I get it," Feline and Axel replied in unison.

There is an exchange of glares.

"The camp currently enjoys healthy bounties of meals right now. Since we are in a recovery state where food is crucial for recovering, but in the months ahead recovery will only be a side purpose while surviving is put as our main vision," Feline explained, about to continue when Axel interrupted.

"When surviving, making sure that we don't overuse ingredients or materials will be crucial," Axel explained, ignoring the laser from a certain person's eye poking at him, "At the state that we are in right now, we won't be able to do it properly, and when it's time to cut off the amount of things we use, some might not be used to it and die just from hunger. So we need to let them down softly to get them used to it slowly before it actually reaches the time where we have to save food."

"Oh… that makes sense," Litian nodded, finally understanding their words, "but how? The people in the camp are used to eating like this and changing over 500 thousand people's eating preferences and habits over the course of just a few days is not going to be easy. Not to mention the medics or caretakers who might cave in and give others more food if they beg. We may be able to tell others to change the food plans, but how are we gonna keep them in check?"

"Ah…" Feline muttered, the new question posing a struggle for her to solve.

"Remember the other people I told you to find?" Dominic asked, turning to Axel.

"Yes…" Axel replied hesitantly.

"How many people do you have?" Dominic asked.

"Um… about 127 people. I wasn't sure if it was enough so I also drafted a few others in case you needed more," Axel reported.

"Good, I'll be needing more of those people," Dominic nodded, "we can split up the camp itself into sections and put certain people in charge of each section. That way there's more levels of authority and therefore be able to have more control of the people here."

"But they were meant to assist you, some of them might not want to help the villagers or might not be ready to look after large groups of people," Axel retorted.

"Well I'm not the one that's going to be needing all the help now. I have you guys and the camp is going to need people to look after it when I can't be there to do it," Dominic sighed, his frown soon disappearing into a smile, "at the end of the day, I am in charge and whether or not they want to help depends on my rule. They deny or do harmful actions against other people, they get kicked out or deprived of food."

"...Isn't that a bit harsh, your highness?" Feline muttered, shivering from the smile on Dominic's face.

"You're the one who said that we can't just wait on a few people, so why should I allow them to insult others who are in just as much danger as they are in just because they have a higher title," Dominic shrugged, "it's only fair to punish those who deserve it."
