Pokémon: Reborn As Lucas

Professor Rowan led the into his private Lab. It did not really look as fancy as they expected. It was rather dull. What they could see was that there were no high tech gadgets or just something similar to what they saw on their previous tour through the Lab.

The only thing that really stood out was a huge desk with three small platforms. Shining from above was a big lamp. Everything else was mostly dark which had the function that their whole focus was on the three balls.

This was the first time Lucas had seen a real Pokéball and he could not wait to get his hands on one of these.

With an amused smile Professor Rowan waited for a moment so that they could calm down. Seeing that only Lucas did so after waiting for some time while Barry grew more impatient as the time passed he decided to throw in a question.

"So who of you will choose first? There are only three Pokémon. The first one is a grass type Pokémon called Turtwig, the second one is the fire type Pokémon called Chimchar and the third one is the water type Pokémon called Piplup. Each and everyone of these Pokémon is very rare even in our region and you propably won't find them other than here. So choose wisely!" (Prof.Rowan)

After listening to his explanation and even though Lucas already knew everything that Professor Rowan said from his past life he could not help but to listen to the explanations happily.

Both however had the same reaction as they wanted to be the first to choose their Pokémon.

"Although we both tied in the race to get here you were the one that started early so why would you think that you could choose first?" (Lucas)

Lucas knew that it was his fault and he gradually calmed down during their argument. Although he really wanted to be the first one to pick his starter he had not really decided yet which one he would actually pick.

In this edition of Pokémon he really liked all the 3 starters. This was prevously only the case for the first generation of Pokémon but he enjoyed to play with all of them.

Thinking about this another thing came to his mind. Whenever he played the game he would choose first and the rival would chose the counter type to always try to give you a hard time which was really frustrating.

Coming to a conclusion he said :" Fine you can pick first. But hurry up I want mine aswell!"

Barry who already had bumbles in his b.u.t.t dashed forward to pick his Pokémon. He observed for a moment before he finally decided which one he will choose.

While he was at it Professor Rowan was surprised by Lucas change of mind and m.a.t.u.r.e behavior.

He turned to him and said:" I don't know what convinced you but I am proud of you. Calmness and the ability to be able to adapt is a special trait that will be helpfull in your journey"

Lucas started to walk up to the two balls that were left. Before he made his choice he turned to the Professor and asked:" Yes, I think so too. But what do you think about cunningness?"

You could see questionmarks above the Professors head but before he could answer he suddenly came to a realization as he saw which Pokémon Lucas picked. His eyes widened but he decided to just smile it off.

The only thing on his mind that was left was to have his first battle.

He thought of what kind of trainer could be his first opponent when he suddenly realized that there was another person right next to him that was getting his first Pokémon just like him and had no experience in fighting just like him.

He thought that this was the perfect opponent to start his journey and what made it even better was that this was his best friend which from now on will be his biggest rival.

Following this train of thought he saw Lucas finally picking his own Pokémon. He immediently called back his newly acquired Pokémon and stepped next to Lucas. Lucas saw him coming over and knew what was about to come.

"Let's have our first ever Pokémon battle. I want you my best friend, no my biggest rival, to be the first one I defeat on my journey to become the best Pokémon trainer to have ever lived!" (Barry)

"I would really like to take you up on that! But don't think you can call yourself my rival if you can not give me a good fight."(Lucas)

Lucas was in a state of excitement which ignited his fighting spirit and caused his previously introverted personality to step aside while a new side opened up for him. Although he did not really mean his words he was influenced by Barrys words of 'becoming the best Trainer to have ever live'.

This is why the urge for some trashtalk came to him. Barry also knew he did not mean it like that because he saw Lucas trembling from excitement, similar to him.
