Strongest Shinobi

Chapter 36 - Chase

As Izana waited for Jiraiya to arrive, he continued to keep a close eye on the corpse in front of him. Who knows if it could still move? Even when his senses told him Danzo was dead, he wouldn't trust them until he got the opinion of Jiraiya.

Jiraiya was a lot more experienced in this so he would know if this was a trick or not. Even though Ryuujin had told him Danzo was dead, Izana had to be sure for certain. If it was a fraud, Izana would track him down to finish the job. If it wasn't then Izana was glad he had finished it as soon as he could.

Izana didn't have to wait long as Jiraiya came back fairly soon, completely covered in blood.

"Did you get them?" Izana asked, as Jiraiya walked towards the corpse of Danzo with caution.

"Unfortunately, a few managed to get away. I did get the information back, but there is no telling if they already made copies or not."

Jiraiya said as he took out a scroll and sealed the corpse into it.

"Did you have any difficulties with Danzo?" Jiraiya said, though he was a bit conflicted with how he should bring this news to the hokage.

"He had Sharingan's." Izana said, circ.u.mventing the question completely to a more pressing matter. Even now Izana trembled in anger. How many of his clansmen's corpes had been desecrated? How many of them had been presumed killed or missing in action while Danzo was behind it? Once they returned, Izana would make sure the hokage would hear of this.

For now, he would keep it from his clansmen as they would only see it as another reason to pull through with the coup, which would only undermine the actions he had taken to prevent it.

"I see. I'll take care of it, I promise." Jiraiya said, his expression dead serious. Nodding, Izana changed the subject again.

"Are we following the enemy? If they get back they will definitely see this attack as an act of war."

"I will chase the enemy, sensei. You explain the situation to the hokage. He will get a better take on the situation if you explain rather than me."

Nodding though a bit worried, Jiraiya agreed.

"If something happens, make sure to let the toads summon you back. It will be safer on Mount Myoboku than where you are going."

Accepting Jiraiya's advice, Izana nodded and went on his way to track the enemy win. Jiraiya watched as Izana dissapeared from sight as he too went on his way.

Having separated from Jiraiya, Izana began to track down the enemy Shinobi. Summoning a few shadown panthers, Izana and co quickly found their tracks. Following it while keeping a close eye out for ambushes, Izana went deeper and deeper into enemy terrain.

Once in a while the tracks showed signs of having stopped, but Izana didn't there was a certain feeling af urgency. He had to take them down before they reached their village. Who knows what kind of information they had acquired.

Stepping up his pace, Izana quickly ran forward, his figure becoming blurry as small amounts of lighting chakra flowed through his veins. Small enough not to be seen by others, but large enough to give a generous boost to his speed.

He passed by town by town, as the tracks seemed to go further and further. Days passed by as it appeared like the enemy had noticed him. There were no more traces of them stopping, which didn't bore good news for Izana.

Even the rain became worse as it turned from a drizzle to a downpour. Taking off any signs he belonged to Konoha and sealing them in a scroll, Izana pulled up is face mask to partially hide his face.

Drawing his sword, Izana activated his Sharingan, while it merged with his biyuu mode. His crimson eyes became pitch black as the tomoë in his eyes shone in a fiery red. Black scales covered his skin, making him less visible in the heavy rain.

From head to toe, black scales covered Izana, making him seem like a devil straight from hell. The enemy froze as those empty black eyes focussed their gaze on them, the crimson tomoë swirling as it trapped its targets into a genjutsu.

Passing by their frozen figures, they all crumbled down to the ground. They were like puppets whose strings had been cut, as blood sprayed out from their slit throats. Not wasting any time, Izana chased after the enemy as they almost reached the village.

As the look on the enemies faces brightened in hope, it was smashed when a sword protruded from their captain's c.h.e.s.t. The enemy captain looked down in horror as the sword slashed downwards, his body horizontally slashed in two, as his organs and guts spilled on the ground.

His subordinates didn't even try to safe him as they all ran away in despair. As the captain bled out, he watched as a black demon ripped of their heads, claws tore through their c.h.e.s.ts and hearts were ripped out. The scene was horrifying. None of his men had time to beg as their lives ended instantly at the hands of this black devil.

The last thing the enemy captain saw as his eyes began to dim, was the smile on the devils face as he collected all the sealing scroll with information from their bodies. One last thought went through his mind as the captain drew his last breath.

'I wish I hadn't taken this mission.'
