SUPREME VISION SYSTEM

Chapter 41 - THAT IS A SURPRISE...

Cole finally reached near the front door and when he dragged the curtain aside to see who it was before opening because these days were not safe. It could be a burglar or a thief, who knew? His mother strictly asked him to open it only before looking out who it was.

If it was not a familiar face then not to open up but if it was, then asked him to let the person go and come back when she was available.

It was none other than Mr.Evans. He smiled at Cole through the other side. Cole only groaned in annoyance having to come face to face with no one but him exactly.

"Cole, I see you are awake...open the door." The man said loudly smiling, still knocking on the door.

Cole continued to watch the irritating man in monotone thinking that he might walk-off if he did not open the door but he remained there in the cold winter still knocking.

"Cole, open the door. Let me get in. "

"Why? Mom is not here. She is at work." Cole shouted back.

"I m not here to see your mother. In fact, your mother sent me to you. So open the door. " Mr. Evans replied, a smile still plastered on his face.

"Why will mom sent you for?" Cole questioned, crossing his arms.

"To check up on you. Now common open the door boy. "

"To check up on me? I m not a kid..." Cole frowned.

"...just open the door." Mr. Evans cut him short.

"Well, why? You already saw me. I m alright. Go back to sleeping. "

Saying that Cole quickly turned his back to head upstairs but then he felt a little bad knowing that the man had been nothing but exceptionally kind to them.

"Cole, young man, can you just open the door for once. It is freezing cold outside."

He heard the man and changed his mind and turned back to open the door and let the poor man in. It was not like his mother was here so he had nothing to worry about.

What if he was actually gay? And into a growing young man?

That was a weird thought his subconscious had pushed in him. He chose to ignore that and finally opened the door, allowing the man in.

The man huffed as he got inside immediately not even waiting for Cole to say 'come inside'. It sure was very cold outside as the chilling howling wind of winter hit his face. He quickly closed the door once Mr.Evans was in.

"Damn, I thought you will not let me in and I would probably die being a snowman the next morning."

Mr. Evans joked, taking a seat on the comfy sofa in the living room. Cole followed him inside there, not liking how the unwelcomed guest was making himself home without even asking him.

"You can always run back to your house which is straight next door. "

Cole rolled his eyes, taking a seat before him in the sofa aligned in the front.

" I was joking. You do not get jokes. Do you?" Mr. Evans chuckled.

"Look I do not entertain the idea of us talking. Tell me what you want and get out of my house the next instant. " Cole rudely let out.

Mr. Evans was taken aback by the young boy's tone of voice but he composed himself soon knowing the boy was going through some tough phrase.

"Well, then I will not be going back until the morning for your mother asked me to watch you for the night. " Mr. Evans informed, maintaining a straight face.

"What??? What did you say?" Cole was immediate to scream, standing up.

"You heard me the first time, young boy." Mr. Evans snorted.

"She wants me to be babysat by you?"

Cole implored not believing what he was hearing. How could his mother do that without once considering his opinion for one?

It was not like it was his first time staying alone in the house. He was used to it. She never bothered to call in for a babysitter when he was much younger than this then why now, suddenly out of nowhere?

"Probably yes. Your mother wants me to babysit you. " Mr. Evans nodded his head.

"But I m not a baby. I m going to be seventeen soon. So just leave. I will tell mom that you dropped by. " Cole said.

Mr. Evans shook his head in negative. " I only take orders from your mother, boy. Plus seventeen us, not an old age number either."

As time passed with the stubborn man not listening to Cole's urgent asking for him to go continuously, Cole got irritated.

"Please. Go. Just go. " Cole groaned.

Mr. Evans shook his head in a big 'no' for the nth time. And it was then Cole realized that the man was not going to go, no matter how many times he would ask him to or behave rudely to get into his nerves, make him angry and then force him to strode towards his home.

But the damn man was stubborn as hell as he kept sitting on the same posture on the same sofa, in fact, made himself a little more comfortable than before by placing his legs up on the table.

"Mind borrowing a blanket to me for the night?" Mr. Evans politely asked.

Cole eyed him weirdly. Was this man for real? How could he even ask for it? By now he should have had known that he did not like him and his presence in his house and here he was asking for a blanket.

"Get yourself one from your home." Cole grumpily replied.

And out of nowhere, Mr. Evans started laughing so loudly that it was hilarious. Cole could only wonder what was so funny about it. Was this man also crazy apart from being a stubborn, irritating, and annoying next-door neighbor who thought himself to be too cool?

Mr. Evans's stomach hurt from laughing so fn hard. He held his stomach to control his laughter as it started to ache.

When he continued to try and fail in holding his laughter off, Cole got the confirmation officially that the man was nuts.

"What is so funny? "

Cole could not help but ask but then Mr. Evans could hardly hold his laughter off even for a second so he even though tried to reply but could not. Cole was so damn aggravated by then.

"Hey, are you crazy or something?"

Cole asked once again after waiting for a brief time limit giving the man time to laugh his heart out, sitting on the front sofa. It was after such a long time someone had laughed so heartily inside their house.

"I....m...I m not...not crazy..."

Mr. Evans somehow held his laughter off and tried to speak out and Cole could not make any sense out of it as the words were unclear.

"...I know what you would....you would do...if I went to get the blanket from my home..."

"What would I do?"

Cole found himself asking trying to know what the man had in his mind. He wanted to know what did he say that made him laugh so damn much.

"You..you would close the door on my face."

Mr. Evans somehow completed the sentence in between his mini laughter and once again continued to laugh once again.

"Oh you bet, I would do exactly that. "

Cole spoke out even though it never crossed to his mind once. Damn! The man was thinking too much than him. He himself gave him the idea of how to get rid of him from inside of his house right away.

" So will you not go to get your blanket? It gets pretty cold after midnight."Cole said.

That got Mr. Evans to laugh again. But before he completed whatever he wanted to say, shaking his head in a no saying he was not going to do that.

"So that you can put your idea into action. No thank you. The heater is working at least. Thanks to God."

Cole groaned in disapproval. Why did he not think about this before? And then Mr. Evans's phone rang. He stood up to get it from his back pocket that made Cole reminded that he needed a phone to book an appointment by dropping a text to the doctor.

"Oh! It's your mother. " Mr. Evans declared.

He answered the call right away and put it in your speaker. Cole's mother's voice boomed in the background.

"Hello!"

"Hey Ivory, I m at your house. " Mr. Evans said.

"Oh wow! Did Cole let you in? That is a surprise. "

Cole heard his mother laughing and it was unusual to listen to her laughter. She never laughed. It was nice to see that this man could at least make her laugh even when he could not.
