SUPREME VISION SYSTEM

Chapter 46 - THEY SEEM NICE...

"Mom!!!!! " Cole snorted. "He is not my nanny....why don't you understand???"

Ivory just rolled her eyes at her overly arrogant son and continued to flip through the television channels. Cole was about to argue more when the headline of the news got his interest.

"Tekla Cooper missing has entered the second day today and still no word of founding the whereabouts of the eighteen-year-old young man who goes to the South Counter High School."

Ivory looked over at her son. She knew about Tekla Cooper. She saw him in Cole's classroom too in the parent's teachers' meets.

"Did you know about this?" She asked.

Cole shook his head in denial and that was when he remembered the talk he had with Vincent last night. He also mentioned that Tekla aka Colonel Sikara, his game name went missing.

Perhaps what Vin was telling turned out to be true. He just got recalled of the scene where he shot him to death in the game. Cole closed his eyes thinking if it was possible that...that...it was the cause of him going missing? He had no idea.

"Well, that is awful news in the morning. I wonder what happened. " Ivory said.

"What happened?"

Mr. Evans came questioned coming out of the bathroom and taking a seat on the sofa beside Ivory. Cole just continued to look at the television screen as the news narrated the report of several students going missing on the same day and the police had not found any cloud about it.

"Another reason for you to ride in Mr. Evans's car to school. It could be some serious case of student kidnapping. " Ivory asserted.

Cole did not say anything and just turned back to head inside the bathroom to get ready for school.

After having breakfast quietly alongside Mr. Evans and his mother who just sat with them in the name because her stomach was full from eating in the diner.

"These pancakes are really delicious, Ivory. I can't thank you more for inviting me over for such a hefty breakfast." Mr. Evans smiled.

"Mention not, Raphael. You have helped me so much. You can stop by anytime. " Ivory let out.

Cole did not say anything and continued to eat his chocolate chip pancakes in monotone. He was too bothered by the news he just watched a few minutes ago. What exactly did happen?

He kept wondering. And he had not got to the point where he could make assumptions or theories of his own. It was getting frustrating.

"So Cole when you are done just come out in my yard. I m going to get my car keys." Mr. Evans stood up.

"And once again thank you, Ivory. I really appreciate this. You remind me of my late wife, Dorothea. She used to cook this way."

Mr. Evans spoke out dreamily about his wife whom he lost to death five years before. Ivory transformed her cheerful face into a sad one. Mr. Evans noticed that and gestured her not to be sad. It was clear that the man loved his wife.

"Well, it is alright. I m going to get my car keys now. Don't want Cole to get late for school now do we?"

Mr. Evans chuckled and headed out picking up his cell phone from the dining table.

That caught Cole's attention and he remembered that he was yet to inform his mother that he booked an appointment with the eye specialist doctor at the noontime.

"The man is so cheerful and wholesome. Is not he?" Ivory mumbled to herself.

Cole turned to look at his mother astonished for he never heard her talking about a man like that before other than his bastard father who still had not replied to his accident yet.

"Mom...??"

"Ahhh...do not assume anything wrong, Cole. He is just a nice guy, grieving for his wife's death. He has helped so much. You know that I would not have been able to manage this entire situation by myself but he was there in every step even when he did not have to. "

"I understand, mother. " Cole nodded.

"So the least we could do is show some compassion and inviting him over for dinner or breakfast, I hope it should not bother you that much. " Ivory said.

"I understand it all mom but..."

"No buts...Cole. I do not want you ranting about it..." Ivory interrupted him.

"...no mom that is not what I want to talk about." Cole cut her right away.

"Then what is it? But I don't want you to vent over this ok?" Ivory implored.

She was a little bit embarrassed that Cole made a scene in the bathroom when Mr. Evans used it. She did not want such repetitions. She did not want the man to feel unwelcomed.

"Mom...I needed to tell you this but I just could not. Just please do not freak out ok?" Cole spoke out.

Ivory did not say anything and waited for him to continue. She did not know what her son was going to tell her in the morning when especially he was asking her not to freak out. It meant there was something to be breaking out about but she just sealed her lips waiting for him to continue.

" I.... I have been having these problems...problems in my eyes...it is..."

Cole started only to get interrupted by his mother who cut him short with her question right away.

"What? Your vision had not got clear yet?"

Cole shook his head negative indicating that it had not. Ivory eyed in worry. What was wrong with her son?

"It has not. It is almost time for school and I have no time to explain to you in detail but....I...do not feel ok going on like this and it...it had been bothering me so I dropped a text to the doctor last night..."

"You did?" Ivory asked.

"Yes...and he booked an appointment with the eye specialist doctor, Leslie. The appointment is on noontime. We are ten number patients she would check upon. " Cole said.

"Oh wow. I just thought it would get alright...your eyes..." Ivory mumbled.

"Well I thought too but it had not so... But it's alright. So you have to be there for me in the hospital at the noon." Cole confessed.

"Of course I will be there, Cole. Do not worry just go to school. Are you having issues right now too with seeing everything? " Ivory implored.

"No...I mean yeah but I can at least see. " Cole mumbled.

The honking of the SUV caught their attention. They both looked outside the window to see Mr. Evans's sleek black SUV parked outside of their house.

"Oh, it is Mr. Evans." Ivory said.

"Mom...I love you. I got to go now. See you at the hospital. "

Cole picked up his duffle bag and walked to where his mother stood, hugging her, and then finally heading out of the house and got inside Mr. Evans's car.

Ivory waved her hand as she saw them driving away from the neighborhood. Surprisingly this morning she did not feel tired after returning from the diner as usual instead she felt energetic.

She was liking the fact there was someone now who would watch her back if she had a problem. At least someone to watch over Cole when she might not be there for him.

Cole continued to look outside the window as the car drove through the road. The cars speeding on the highway.

"So you know about this guy who got missing from your school?" Mr. Evans asked.

Cole parted his eyes away from the glass window to look at him. He shook his head in a no. Mr. Evans frowned.

"Did your mother not say you go to the same class as him?"

"We do not talk much even when we share a class," Cole replied in a straight forward manner.

"Oh so not a friend, I see. " Mr. Evans mumbled.

"How many friends you have though?"

He questioned again after a brief pause. The drive was becoming too silent for his liking.

"One if you count in school. Two more from the game." Cole answered.

Mr. Evans was a little taken aback by the fact how nice and patiently the young boy was answering all the questions. He was not acting anything like last night.

"Oh, what are their names?"

Cole looked back at him, narrowing his eyes but answered it regardless. He promised his mother he would be a good boy so...

"The one at school is Vincent. The other two are Chris and Matty."

"Oh...nice name there. I like them already.

Their names sound like they are good guys to hang out. "

Mr. Evans smiled rotating his steering wheel to take the u-turn. Cole did not say anything and eyed him if he was being serious.
