Chapter 55 - I M SO SORRY COLE!

"I m so sorry...so sorry Cole."

Cole stopped on his track to see his mother had halted on her steps when they reached the alley. She was looking down saying sorry to him before moving her eyes up to see him.

"I...I m a failure. I cannot provide you. It is me because of whom your life could turn dark. I m such a shame for a parent."

Cole quickly strode forward and held his mother in for a hug. She cried hard against his chest.

"It's an alright mother. I m fine. We will get past this. Don't cry, please. You are not a failure. "

He rubbed her back trying to soothe her but it was not working as Ivory continued to sob her heart out. She felt so helpless and like a loser. Today, she felt like she was not a good perfect mother to her son.

"I...I will go to him...He must have gone busy...I will talk to him...he will help us..."

Cole understood what his mother was telling. She was thinking of contacting his bastard father. Not in f.u.c.k.i.n.g hell. He thought.

"He will help us, Cole."

"No..you will not contact him, mom."

Cole let out.

"Why? Why not?..."

Ivory enquired. Why was he not letting to call his father? He would surely help them if he got to know that his son...their son was going through such a tough phase in his life.

Of course, he would help their son if he got to know about it. So she could not help but ponder why her son was against the idea of not letting his father know about it.

"Why? Cole? Tell me...Is it because that I...That he did not..did not reply to the text I sent him when you were in the hospital? " Ivory questioned.

Cole did not say anything and instead looked away. He was too gone to say anything at all. And the fact that his mother did hit it right on her confectionary. He did not want to admit it.

But it was not just that. It was more than that. He just never felt like that his father was anywhere near him whenever he needed him. It was just useless hoping for him to be there.

He was too disappointed even to think about him. He had failed as a father. He had failed them a long time ago. So why was his mother trying to bring him again like he even cared about them?

"It. It is not about that. You will...you will not call him, mom."

Cole said as he turned back to look at his mother eyeing him with tears in her eyes. He felt bad that he said that out loud to his mother when she was just vulnerable and trying to find a solution for his problem.

"But...but he is your father. He has the right to know about it even if he helps or not. He has that right."

Ivory voiced out sternly. She knew that her son was being a stubborn one but she knew that it was just his hurt and deals long yearning to see his father only to get disappointed for so long that now he had just no hope for him.

She understood it all. She could see right through him...his wounded soul. A little boy itching to meet his father all these years and not getting it had made him too much hurt.

But the situation they were in, it was only him...his father who could help them. He had the thing that they needed...needed the most right then and did not have it.

Money...money. His father had it. Enough of it. So much more that if they wanted the operation could take place right away. But here her son was being rebellious and adamant about it.

"He is not my father. "

Cole muttered out strictly. He did not want his father here. He was not even his father. Who was he? Where was he when he needed the most? He was never there for him. He never even saw him in real life.

How pathetic was that? He just had turned hopeless now. It was worthless. And he did not get it why his mother was now hell bound in calling him for it.

"He is your father, Cole. No matter how much you try to deny it but he is." Ivory started.

"No, he is not...Can you please drop it? I do not want to talk about this."

Cole shouted back losing his temper drawing attention from the people walking past them. They eyed the mother-son duo narrowly with their gaze.

"He is your father and you can't deny it, Cole. "

Ivory did not sit back and let him do what he wanted this time. She knew that he was being none sensible in this but he did not understand the fact that his stubbornness was getting in his own way for a bright colorful future.

If they did not gather the money right away, God forbid but what if he really did turn blind forever. What would happen then? He was not in his right mind. But she...she could not let that happen.

"Ok, then mom. Do whatever the hell you want but I m not getting any help from that person. "

Cole pointed his finger to his mother. He was breathing high and was very angry at that time. He was feeling his rock bottom and at that point he just wanted his mother to agree with him.

Why was she hell-bent ongoing against him? Why was she trying to call the person who had given her nothing but misery? Why was she not understanding that the person who had not been there for them eighteen long years, why would he want to be a part of their life then?

"Cole. It is about your future. " Ivory whispered, yelled.

"No mom. It is not. I don't care." Cole replied walking backward.

"You will turn blind if we don't take action!!!" Ivory screamed back.
