THAT DAY I BECAME A STAR

Chapter 123 - CHAPTER 123: SPARRING LIGHTLY HE SAID (4)

FARNER SAINT AXELANDRIA POV:

I still remember it. Four months ago, when Cordel came and asked us how we use divine judgment. The divine judgment is a script we can only use when we are together. It calls forth the hammer of light of our mother in a form of a gigantic pillar of light and strikes any enemies around us.

Although we say ut like that, I am not really sure about its true power myself. We have never used it before and maybe we won't even need to seeing as most of the Longinus we faced until now were weak.

But I can't go and say that after all. It would be lile saying all my sisters who have died until now were weak.

When we explained it to Cordel. He somehow managed to reproduce something very similar to it. I never asked him where and how he learned of divine judgment since it is normally a secret but I suppose there might be some books that talks about it..

As Cordel calls his script. Light appears all around Kevin and engulfs him.

"Yes!!"

"He is finished."

"Well, at least, he fought well."

"That's how you tame a wild beast."

As a pillar of light is burning Kevin, everyone gets hysteric. Are they really that happy that he is suffering? At least, my sisters don't look too happy. I thought that Excia would be a bit satisfied to see him getting defeated but just like me, she seems irritated, angry almost. As I thought, this is wrong. There is something wrong with all this.

"Maybe we should have stopped this after all." Hearing Roxcia's whispers confirm what I thought. We should stop all this.

Suddenly, a smell of burnt flesh reaches our nose. No way… As the pillar of light disappears, Cordel falls on his knees as well. That script used way too much Angas even though it is a sure-fire method to win.

On the other side, Kevin is still standing, his hands above his head. They are both burnt to the point they look like charcoal which still has embers. I don't even want to imagine how much pain he feels right now.

"He is not moving…Hey, referee!!! Cordel won, what are you waiting for?!!!"

"Yeah!! Declare the end of the fight already!!"

"Cordel is the best! I just knew i-"

While they are all cheering, a movement brings calm to all of us. Kevin's arms move. His left one then his right. Then he raises his head and looks in Cordel's direction. Can he really see him? His face and eyes still look burnt.

"Did you know? He got tortured for one month."

"W-what? What are you talking about?!" Cordel tries to stand up but he doesn't manage to. He starts trembling like a leaf as Kevin slowly walks to him.

"They pull out his nails, cuts his fingers and toes, healed him back, and started the process again and again and again."

"What the fuck are you talking about, dammit?!!"

I never saw Cordel swearing before. So he is that worked up? More importantly, what I Kevin talking about? Could it be somebody from his past? Or somebody he knew?

"Then when they got tired, they started toying with him. Opening his stomach, pulling out his intestines, and slowly waiting until he would stop screaming only to heal him and restart the process. For a month, they went on and on until they killed him."

Kevin reaches Cordel and stands right in front of him.

"What is he talking about?"

"What is that gore story he is telling? Did he lose it?"

No, guys, I don't think he lost it. This guy…Kevin has faced something in his past. Something so terrible it changed him, destroyed him, leaving only an empty and thwarted being, without purpose, without love, with only fear and hatred towards everything.

"This guy deserves to be saved more than anybody else."

"Farner?"

"No, nothing." No, this is not a mission for Excia or anybody else. It is mine; I should do it. As the one who brought him here. As the one who desires him to be saved.

"And yet, you dare lie and say that you felt sad when you learned he died."

"Wait, what? This…This was all about my-"

Kevin slams Cordel's face with his knee and right before Cordel's head touches the ground, then he uses his foot and presses his throat. He does it so hard Cordel's tongue got out like he was about to choke to death.

"Ack!! Ack!!"

Cordel's breath got cut, he tries to scream but no words come out. However, it seems somebody didn't have enough. Kevin lifts his foot again but thankfully, as he tries to kick again, the knight stops him.

"That's enough."

Kevin's aura doesn't stop intil the knight releases his own. If they fight. Now, he will obviously lose. Don't be stubborn!!

"....Tch!"

Kevin backs away and walks towards the headmaster. He walks normally, almost like he can see in front of him. In fact, can he not? It looks to me like he has an easy time doing it. To think I hit my pinky toe two times just yesterday in the dark... I am kind of ashamed now.

"I believe with this, I am still staying, right?"

"Yes, it's not like I wanted you to go just yet but since my most diligent and strongest students asked, I had to make amends."

"If you spoil a cat too much, he won't be able to hunt mice."

"Yes, I do know that. Don't worry. "

As Kevin is talking with the headmaster, surely oblivious to our astonished looks, he reaches the end of the stage. He raises his foot but there is nothing in front of him.

Kevin falls to the ground like a rock, and blood pours out all around him, from his hands, from his mouth, his ears, everywhere.

"Dammit!!" I knew we should have stopped this.
