The Alpha King

After whispering my threat into Xavier's ear I unwound my arms and legs from around him and stood in front of him.

His eyes were narrowed at me and he grabbed my face in one of his rough hands, leaning towards my ear he whispered back huskily, "I'd like to see you try, Love."

"You think I won't be ab-"

"Your Highness, I am so glad that you have finally arrived and is that a guest with you?"

I peaked over Xavier's large shoulder and saw a tall and skinny, elderly werewolf. His hair was brown with streaks of white and his face was wrinkled. His green eyes shone excitedly and when he saw me peeking at him his smile broadened.

I didn't know why Xavier was still messing around with me when there was entire row of people clearly eager to see their King. I also didn't know why he kept, well almost shielding me from their view and refusing to just move and go and greet everyone.

His people were clearly getting impatient hence this elderly man taking the initiative to come to us and greet us.

Xavier sighed so softly I almost didn't catch it and finally turned around. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to his side.

"Edmund, how nice it is to finally see you again after sometime. " Xavier said completely ignoring the guest question. I noticed how Xavier's tone became formal and almost detached. Gone was the glint in his eyes from earlier when we were messing about.

The werewolf, Edmund, smiled at Xavier and then bowed deeply. When Xavier told him to rise he did and then he looked straight at me.

"Good evening, My Lady, my name is Edmund."

"Good evening Edmund, my name is Victoria but please call me Tori, it is a pleasure to meet you." I said smiling at him. I stretched my hand out for him to shake and he laughed softly and shook it.

"He was my Kings advisor and now he is mine as well. " Xavier added as he looked at me. Edmund nodded his head agreeing with Xavier's words.

"Come, come, let us go and greet the rest." Edmund said eagerly and started walking towards the people waiting at the entrance. I glanced at Xavier with wide eyes as my previous embarrassment came rushing back. Xavier on the other hand seemed as cool as a cucumber.

Everyone we greeted bowed deeply for Xavier and gave me a weird look. We first greeted a few of his generals and then some other people whose purpose was a mystery to me. The last person we greeted was Xavier's delta or third in command. He was huge, muscles littered his body and his head was shaved. He had piercing brown eyes and I noticed a few scars on his bare arms and there was one on his neck and eyebrow. He was handsome in a way but extremely scary looking, I involuntary took a step closer to Xavier.

He glanced down at me and didn't even smile but instead looked at me as if I was an annoying bug or something.

I held my hand out for him and he completely ignored me and instead turned to Xavier and bowed to him.

I felt extremely awkward and slightly upset. What did I do to deserve such disrespect, I thought, genuinely confused.

"Rise Killian and apologise immediately for disrespecting your Queen." Xavier said furiously. I noticed how everyone went deadly quite at his words.

Xavier hadn't introduced me as his Queen to the others. Killian rose and an incredulous expression covered his face. He scoffed and said to Xavier,

"You can't be serious Alpha, she's your Que-?"

"You dare question me! " Xavier said deadly softly and leaned closer to Killian who's eyes widened.

He bowed his head slightly and said,

"Of course not Alpha, I apologise."

"For what Killian?!"

"For disrespecting the Queen and you, Your Majesty."

"Adequate, now where is Luca?" Xavier asked him.

"Alpha, Luca had to leave to handle a rogue problem just outside of our borders he left early last night and is to return early in the morning."

"I will hold a meeting tomorrow at lunch and I expect all my generals, you and Luca to be there. Make sure you inform them. Is there any other pressing matters I need to be informed about."

" No, Alpha, they can wait for tomorrow, however, I forgot to deliver a message from Lady Kathryn, she says she has missed you terribly and is to arrive tomorrow at noon."

Lady Kathryn, and who exactly was this Lady and why did she miss my mate?! I could feel the jealous monster rear its ugly head and my eyes narrowed. Was she his lover before he met me? His mistress? His girlfriend? Okay, calm down Tori, breathe.

I watched Xavier's expression, which didn't change but I noticed his jaw ticked.

"I was hoping she'd never return."

Well I certainly felt better with that statement. I haven't even met this Kathryn but I didn't like her already.

"So did I," I heard Killian almost whisper to himself. Well, even he didn't seem to like her but on the other hand he didn't strike me as one to like many people at all.

"You are all dismissed." Xavier said turning to the row of people and they all bowed and left. I noticed Killian looking at me before he left and I just frowned in his direction. What was his problem?

Xavier sighed and took my hand. He was leading me up the steps and into his freaking castle when I noticed his tired expression.

"What's wrong?" I asked and held his hand tighter.

He glanced at me and said,

"Nothing Love."

"Don't lie to me, something is bothering you, tell me."

We were walking up some stairs and I didn't even bother paying attention to the inside of the place or where I was going because I was focused on him.

He sighed again and then said,

"It is just that, as much as I missed my home, I did not miss all the politics and drama and now that I have you I could not be happier but I do not want to throw you into all of this. If you were to be unhappy here I do not know what I'd do."

We reached the top of the stairs and Xavier was leading me down a hallway and I was silent for a while until we reached a set of double doors. He pushed them open and when we entered I turned him around to face me and held his face in between my fingers.

"Xavier, please don't worry if I'll be happy or not, or if I'll be able to manage. I'm a big girl, I can look after and entertain myself, besides we are here for my safety and you had to return home at some point."

"You're right, I-I just wanted to keep you all to myself for a little while longer. My very own secrete treasure."

My heart warmed at his sweet words. Xavier ran a finger down my face and along my jaw and then he traced my lips and I just stood there letting him touch me, wanting him to never stop.

"Do you want to shower?" He asked all of a sudden.

"Um..yes actually I'd really like to."

A sly smirk spread across his face and I scrunched my eyebrows up at him.

"What, why are you smirking like that?"

"Can I join you? You know to save water and all."

I opened my mouth in shock at his response and then I smacked him on his arm. When he laughed at me I rolled my eyes and walked to the bathroom which I could see was in the left of his ginormous room. Actually come to think of it this room is about the size of the first floor of my freaking house.

I was almost to the bathroom when a thought stopped me. I turned around and looked for Xavier.

He was near his bed, digging inside of a cupboard.

"Xavier," I said.

"Hmmm,"

"Who's, Lady Kathryn?"

I couldn't help but notice how his back straightened and his scuffling in his cupboard ceased.
