The Princess With The Jet Black Hair

Chapter 5 - 4: Daily Life of Emily Patterson

"Okay, maybe we shouldn't stay up watching that two-hour-long horror movie last night." Hailey said while having her breathing in check as both Emily and herself bolted through the bustling morning street.

Emily could bȧrėly breathe in the speed they were running at, yet she was baffled on her how Hailey was not out of breath, whatsoever.

"Ye-yeah--" She replied as she struggled to gasp for air while trying to keep up with Hailey.

"Are you okay? Need me to slow down?" Hailey turned to face her while still running forward. Emily's eyes widened as she was amazed how Hailey could that.

"N-no... It's f-fine." Emily forced out through her panting, even though she wanted to stop that torture so badly.

"Alright, tell me when I need to. We are reaching there soon. Let's go, Emily!" Hailey cheered as she fist bumped the air.

"It's literally eight in the morning, where the heck did she get all this energy...?" Emily thought as she used her remaining energy to shot her a droll look.

"Finally!" The word echoed throughout Emily's mind but she was too out of breath to say it. Both of them ran through the entrance just as the bell rang.

"Yay! We made it!" Hailey cheered as Emily was bending forward, trying to gasp for as much oxygen as her lungs could.

The students in the hallways stared at Hailey and smiled. Some even waved at her as she waved back. Hailey is one of the more popular girls in school so, many students really adored her.

She turned and give Emily a concerned look, "You're okay, right?"

"Yeah. Let's head to class." Emily replied as she took a deep breath and stood upright. "I don't wanna be late now. I did WAY too much, being late now will be a waste of my energy."

Both of them walked towards their class. Emily could already hear whisperings about her and what happened yesterday.

"Oh my, I've should have known. She is probably the leader of some Organization that is known to destroy Earth."

"...No wonder, she gives out an intimidating feeling."

"Hailey is probably brainwashed by her..."

Emily ignored those remarks of her, because she didn't really care much of way others think of her. However, she cared more about Hailey's reputation. She walked closer to Hailey and whispered into her ear, "Maybe you should walk away from me. You might get swooped up in those remarks."

"Let me think... Hmm, what about no? I don't care. I can do whatever I wanna do, whether you like it or not. So suck it up, little Ol' Emily." She replied with a playful grin.

Suddenly, Emily heard something that actually got to her.

"...At least her parents did something right, which is to abandon that darn monster..."

That made her paused for a while, but she quickly hid it and acted as if she did not hear it as she continued walking. However, her hesitation was picked up by Hailey's vigilante eyes.

Feeling anger slowly stirred up in her, Hailey approached the girl who said that. She tapped on her shoulder, "Hey, come closer just for sec." Hailey gestured with her innocent smile.

The girl placed her left ear near Hailey mouth, in order to hear what she wants to say.

Hailey's rather aggressive voice filled her mind, "...I just wanted you to shut the fuċk up... bitch." She followed with a fake smile and the signature... middle finger.

Emily saw it and immediately attempted to pull Hailey away while apologizing to the girl. But, it failed as her best friend swung her arm away from her grasp. "Don't apologize to her, Emily." She scowled, "She deserved it."
