Chapter 105

"What…did you say?" The man in the suit asks in a low voice. Mi Young was looking at him with widened eyes. She doesn't know what got into her and why she said those words. All she knew is that someone else beside her made her say it. But who could it be?

"I…I…" Mi Young stutters, still looking at the man with a shocked expression.

"Repeat what you said." The man says. Mi Young noticed that his voice was getting much louder now and there seems to be some kind of an unspoken anger hiding behind it that made the black haired girl shiver.

"Mi Young? Are you okay?" Kwang Soo whispers beside her. The young girl felt the soft comforting touch of the other party against her hands but the loud pounding in her chest is still present.

The young student nodded her head at her senior. "I'm okay."

"You!" The man suddenly shouts, making the two students jump from where they were sitting on the floor. When Mi Young looked up she saw the man in the suit pointing towards the purple haired girl. "Get her and bring her to the isolation room!"

There was a wicked smile playing on Su Yeon's lips as she entered Kwang Soo and Mi Young's cell. Immediately, the senior moves forward to block Mi Young out of the other girl's reach.

"What are you going to do big boy? Protect your maiden by using what? Your tiny fists?" Su Yeon challenges with another wicked grin. She scoffs at Kwang Soo's poor attempt to protect Mi Young. However, it made the young girl feel a little safer than earlier. At least someone is willing to protect her. "Move or I'll blast you right her and now."

"You can't do that. Not until you need my blood for your experiments." Kwang Soo answers with a challenging voice. This made Su Yeon annoyed.

"Move or I'll really turn you into ashes." Su Yeon says. Her face was void of any emotions which made Mi Young think that the girl will definitely have no second thoughts using her ability against Kwang Soo.

"Do whatever you want." Kwang Soo says.

Su Yeon lets out another angry grunt before she raises her hands, getting ready to attack Kwang Soo. However, just as she was about to blast the boy using her Electro ability, the man in the suit shouts.

"Stop." Su Yeon's hands stop in mid air. She looks like a mindless puppet who easily listens to her master's words. However, despite Su Yeon completely freezing because of the man's instructions, her eyes were glowing with electricity. She was looking at Kwang Soo like a hungry monster ready to attack its prey.

"Why?" Su Yeon asks through gritted teeth. Despite her instincts telling her to kill the male student, Mi Young noticed she couldn't do anything until her master told her.

"Don't hurt them. Not yet." The man in the suit says. Surprisingly, his calm voice was back and he somehow regained his composure again. Mi Young wondered if she just imagined the look of fear on the man's expression earlier. "Let's go."

Just like earlier, Su Yeon couldn't do anything but abide by her master's commands. Without saying anything else, she retreats back to the man's side as the cell doors where the two students were locked closes.

Before finally leaving the place, the man in the suit casts one last glance at Mi Young before him and Su Yeon disappears out of sight.

Mi Young noticed Kwang Soo letting out a huge sigh of relief when they saw the two other people leaving their cells. "I thought I was going to die right there."

"I don't know where you got the confidence but nice try kid." The man on the other cell, Jang Hoon, says while giving Kwang Soo a wink.

Both students looked at each other before they returned their gaze back at the man who was now back on his previous position where he was standing near the two students' cell.

"Why…" Mi Young starts to say. The man looks at her, waiting for her to continue to hear the question even though he might already guess what she was about to ask him. "Why did you do it?"

"What? Kill him?" The man asks nonchalantly. The two students nodded their heads at him. The man had this small smile on his face when he continued his explanation. "Trust me kids, I was doing that man a favor."

"Favor? Killing is giving someone a favor?" Kwang Soo asks, voice suddenly filled with unspoken rage. Mi Young had to place a hand at the boy's shoulder to stop him from going over the bars to strangle the man.

"They were bound to die anyway." The man says as he turns his back at the two students who were now looking at him like he was some sort of a ghost. Jang Hon then slides down with his back touching the iron bars, while he is sitting, he says in a sad and regretful voice, "The soldiers here are not just soldiers, that man earlier, the man who calls himself as the Second, he uses those soldiers as well for his experiment."

"Why? How come those soldiers can help his experiment? I thought he only needed those who have the bloodline of the five clans." Mi Young questions.

"Oh? So you know about the experiments. Anyway, they have some sort of a device that they use in order to extract a human's soul from its vessel." The buff man says, back still facing the two students.

"Why would they need souls?"

"Sh*t." Kwang Soo suddenly says beside Mi Young.

Hearing his words and his tone, the black haired girl knew that Kwang Soo knew what was going on. "What? Tell me."

"You told me they have some sort of a room here where they put on the bodies of the people they have experimented with, right? Then Sir Jang Hoon here said something about extracting and using other human's souls which means…" Kwang Soo says. The other party took a deep breath first before he continued his explanation. "They're not trying to copy their ability. But they're trying to—"

"—resurrect someone who's already dead and make him someone who can control all elements." The buff man says, continuing Kwang Soo's realization. "Yes. You're right."

"What the…who are they trying to resurrect?" Mi Young asks. She noticed her voice was suddenly filled with an unknown fear that she herself couldn't expect coming out from her mouth.

"That, I don't know. But I bet it's someone important to them." Jang Hoon says in a dark voice.

"Since when did they start doing these experiments?" Kwang Soo asks.

"It started when the new First took over." Jang Hoon says.

"Took over? There was someone before him?"

The buff man nodded his head. "Yes. But he left."

"Why?"

"Because he realized that using the Mana Shell only for themselves was selfish. He wanted to share it with the other people in the city of Furotingu. But then the other High Lords opposed his idea and voted to replace him with someone else instead." Jang Hoon says while retelling the past.

"That's sad."

"Truly sad. The previous First really thought that the other High Lords were his friends. He was too late to realize that when it comes to power, friends tend to forget their friendship." The man says, voice sounding more and more melancholic.

"I'm sorry to hear that, sir." The black haired girl suddenly says.

"No need to say sorry, it wasn't even my own story." Jang Hoon replies.

"So what are we going to do now?" Mi Young questions while looking back and forth between the two males.

Kwang Soo sighs before saying, "We wait."

"Wait? Wait for what?"

"For you to be able to learn how to control your ability." The man on the other cell says, now turning back to face the two students. He grips the iron bars on his cell as he gives Mi Young an encouraging smile, "Don't worry. You can do it, you're strong enough to be able to control it."

"I don't even know how to open this book." The young girl says while giving the man an unimpressed look.

"I told you to offer it just a tiny amount of your blood." Jang Hoon instructs.

Mi Young bites her lower lip, too scared to do what the others expect her to do. However, a sudden voice suddenly rings in her head, telling her that she has been through a lot, a small act is nothing compared to the adventures and challenges she has faced before.

So with a deep sigh and a determined nod, Mi Young bites her thumb until blood oozes out of it. She then slowly wipes it one the surface of the miniature book hanging around her neck.

Nothing happened for a couple of seconds.

The black haired girl was about to tell the man that he was spouting nonsense but then her necklace started emitting a bright light that blinded the three of them.
