The Vampire's Bride

Chapter 60 - Follow The Rules You Used

The whole class was just watching Mallory overpower Udine. It was a sight you wouldn't see much. Who would have thought that Udine would be cornered by a halfling?

If Mallory was stronger than Udine... could it be she's stronger than Justin? Such thought made Justin blood burn in excitement. He could not wait for Udine to concede so he could have a turn. Justin wasn't the type of man to hold his punches just because the other person is a woman. This was one of the reasons as to why Udine did not want to lose to Justin. He wondered... Would Mallory surpass his expectations? If she did...

Justin looked at Leo who was coldly staring at Udine. It was obvious in his eyes that he knew who was going to win without a hint of doubt. Justin's lips turned upwards. If Mallory meets his expectations, there was only one thing he would do – break the engagement.

The sudden shift of attention caught Leo's eyes. He could not understand the creepy look Justin had as they met eyes. One thing was for sure. Leo felt the challenge.

"Okay, that's enough."

Finally. The neutral vampire finally opened her mouth to stop the fight. Eunice stood up and walked towards Mallory and Udine. The moment she walked, Jillion had half the mind to interfere when he suddenly felt suffocated.

The pressure was to heavy. His body would not listen to him and trembled. It wasn't only him. Everyone else in the room couldn't move an inch. They all felt death staring directly at them. Jillion looked at his friend whose countenance had darkened. Leo... was about to lose control.

"L-Leo, don't overdo it," Jillion barely let out a few words. "Eunice is not someone you should just fight with."

"So, can she kill me?" Leo coldly looked at Jillion. It was as if ice was forming around them. With a deadly voice, Leo repeated his words earlier, "If someone dares to stand in my darling's way, they'd have to face me first."

F*ck...

F*ck, f*ck, f*ck! Will I be seeing a blood pool in this room again?!

Jillion felt like a headache was coming. How come he was in-charge of cleaning the mess his friend made? Isn't there someone who could just prevent this?

"Azazel," Mallory furrowed her brows in worry. She didn't want to cause any trouble, "Please. You'll be in trouble."

Leo had a staring contest with Mallory. The fury in his eyes couldn't easily disappear yet seeing the genuine worry in Mallory's face, Leo could not help but sigh as he pinched his nose bridge. He should teach his fiancée to be cold-hearted to people like this. "Darling, you're really giving me a hard time here."

"Glad to see you behave for once, Azazel," Eunice commented as she continued to walk. She carefully eyed Mallory. What kind of vampire could appease such a monster? Clearly, Mallory was not just an ordinary halfling. But for her to be a human...

Because halflings were rare, most vampires could not distinguish Mallory's wolf blood. Misunderstandings were bound to happen. Mallory knew this but she just can't let it slide either. Just as what Leo had told her, she needed to show her strength to continue staying in the Night Class. Fights such as this were bound to happen.

"As you've mentioned before, fights between students will not be tolerated," Eunice was walking towards Udine, not even sparing a glance at Mallory. "As you have already given a punishment to Miss Lee, I see no reason as to why we should continue this. Miss new student, it's your first day." It would be best for you to stay silent instead of causing trouble.

The words unsaid were clear to the rest of the students. Eunice was still a vampire. She hated the idea of a human blood nearby. However, unlike Udine, Eunice did not think of taking actions as early as now. Seeing how Udine had lost in terms of power, Eunice knew she shouldn't carelessly attack without any preparations.

"How is the punishment finished?" Mallory coldly asked as she watch the back of the person helping Udine. She tilted her head a bit and asked once more, "Did any punishment start?"

"You!" Eunice did not expect this. As her role as a meditator, Eunice thought Mallory would unconditionally follow her words. "If you attack her now, you will be the one breaking the rules. Don't do anything foolish."

"Foolish?" Mallory had heard this word a lot of times. Every action she did just seemed foolish in front of her family. Now that she was taking a stand, her actions still seemed foolish in front of strangers. Mallory finally realized. Truly, only those blind would dare to create such first impressions. Mallory could not help but let out a short condescending laugh, "Classmate, anyone can see how I was attacked first. She asked to smell my blood, I peacefully obeyed and showed my wrist. She asked if I was a vampire, I admitted I was a halfling. She suddenly bound me with her chains, I patiently tried to assess the situation. Blinded by her rage of my blood, she had failed to keep herself in check. I did not hurt her at first. I just defended myself. Can defending be called a punishment? Just how damaged are your eyes, classmate?"

Although Jillion had heard Mallory's new attitude before, seeing her in front of him and talking back at Eunice, Jillion could not help but shiver in excitement. Indeed, such temperament is worthy of being Leo's wife!

"Ha..." Eunice combed her hair backwards, "I forgot you're Azazel's fiancée. No wonder you feel so full of yourself." Eunice had hated arguments and would do anything to avoid them. She just wanted to be lazy. But what if someone irked her? Anyone can tell you that it won't end well. Eunice stood tall and proud. "What can a mere human like you do? Sure, you surprised Udine with your power. And then? As a new student, you should silently follow the flow."

Mallory shrugged. Indeed, a new student should follow the flow. But she's not exactly a new student and there was no water flowing from the start. The class was divided from the start. Justin. Udine. Eunice. The Cruz twins. Leo and Jillion. All of these people were not close to each other, other than Leo's group, so was there really a need to follow Eunice's words? Not really. They just find it annoying to deal with Eunice each and every time she'll intervene.

But no one dared to say this out loud. After all, one can only take damage if they fall from a high place. Such is the nature of those prideful vampires.

"Since I am indeed new to the class, I don't wish to give any sort of punishments to the girl who tried to bind me with chains. You should learn to follow the rules you used. My blood is indeed not a pure one. Your animosity is understandable but let me repeat my words. I'm a halfling. Like it or hate it, the principal assigned me to this class. I received the test. If you wish to complain, the principal will surely be happy to waste his time. Nothing beats an unsaid break during work, right?"

"You're not afraid?" Eunice asked as she glared at the cold halfling standing steps away from her. "You really chose death, huh."

"Death?" Mallory could not help but give out a bitter smile. "It's not like any of the students here will kill me." After all, none of them had malicious intentions as her family. Even if they hated Mallory, she knew they don't hate her for who she was. They hate her blood. Mallory knew from the start – they wouldn't be able to kill her.

"Darling," Leo called, not wanting to see any painful expressions, "Class will start soon. Leave them."

"Yes."

And just like that, the first confrontation of Mallory with her new classmates came to an end. No one dared to speak about it. Udine was silent throughout the whole night. Eunice, although she looked lazy, could not help but feel her blood boil at the arrogant attitude Mallory had. But despite the hostility, everyone in the room had one common thought—

How could Mallory believe that they wouldn't kill her?
