This Time, It's Forever

Chapter 53:Were you scared?

Back at the hospital, Lyla is awake and her kids are all hovering on her bed. All three of them decided to nag at her for scaring them. Layla was the one who nag her the most.

"Mommy, don't scare us like that again. Stop playing with that red paint. I don't like seeing you play with that red paint. It made you sick. I was crying my eyes out because you wouldn't wake up when i call you. Even daddy was crying. Aiden didn't cry but his eyes were red. Ryan only cry a little. And if you're not comfortable, don't sleep inside that big white room. Daddy will be sad. Daddy can make you better mommy so don't go inside that big room anymore." Layla's babbling voice have been entering her ear ever since she enter the room while her two other boys sit by her side, holding onto her hand. She used her other hand to pat on Layla's head as she smile.

"Mommy won't be going into that room anymore. Mommy will let daddy take care of me so don't worry. You don't like seeing mommy with red paint? Mommy thought mommy would look nice if mommy use red dress later." She joked, trying to ease her son's heart. She knew they were scared which is why they've been holding onto her hand and not letting go. Even let Layla do all the talking. Not bothering to interrupt like they usually do. However, the joke probably went a bit too far.

"Mommy!!!" all three of them starts scowling. Showing their displeasure.

"In fact, no one will be wearing anything that has red on it. It looks ugly." Aiden shows his serious face.

"Promise us mommy." Layla make her pinky promise with her. She was astonished by their remark. But in the end she promise them she won't wear anything red on her. Saying it's a bad luck. She sighed. It was her fault for making them see what they shouldn't have seen that day. But she never regretted it. As long as they are safe, it's fine with her. She entertained them some more seeing they are trying their best to keep strong despite seeing their eyes would go watery once in a while. She wondered what exactly happen when she was unconscious, making them trying to act strong in front of her. Did Dylan say something to them? But according to Layla, Dylan didn't threatened them like he usually do. She wanted to know but looking at her three kids keeping mum about it, might as well she asked her husband.

"What are you brats doing disturbing your mother. She should be resting right now. If this keep up, i'm taking your..." Dylan who have been away to settle some stuff return to the hospital only to see his kids conquering his wife. He was about to finish his sentence when he was cut off leaving him speechless.

"Daddy going to take mommy away. Sheesh daddy. Don't you have any other lines daddy? No one can take our mommy away from us." Ryan cuts in while rolling his eyes.

"We'll tell Uncle Jayden on you so that he can bully you back." Layla put her hand on her hip looking at her father trying to rebel.

"And we'll tell Uncle Reynold to take mommy from you so you can never find mommy." This time Aiden threatened Dylan back making him scowl at them.

"You'll have to find someone stronger than me to take your mommy away from daddy. No one can take your mommy away from me because i'm your mommy's king. And as daddy's queen, she can only be my side." He retorted back. Not caring his kids dissatisfaction look, he went to Lyla and kiss her forehead, both of her eyes, her cheeks, nose and lastly her lip. Only by feeling her warmth he can calm his heart. As if telling him that she's fine and alive. That she's not leaving him all alone. He look at her gently but she was glaring at him. He smirks because he knew she was annoy at him trying to compete with their kids over and over again.

"Hubby, i thought when i woke up you will stop threatening our kids seeing they never complaint about you. Alas, it was all a dream. Can you stop making them miserable?" She pinched his arm but unable to do any harm when he chuckled.

"Go and play with your uncles outside. Daddy wants to talk to mommy." He tell his kids and they obeyed immediately without any fuss. Lyla was puzzled. Usually they would complaint a lot making Dylan use his savage way to deal with their kids. But it was so very different. She's not sure if it is a good thing or not. But she's happy all the same.

Dylan removed his shoes and carefully push Lyla to other side a little to make a space for him to lay down beside her on the hospital bed. Thankfully the bed was bigger since it is a VIP room. Laying beside her and feeling her warmth just like this he feels like he's home. He look into her eyes and smile. They stare with each other for the next couple of minutes as if they were holding a conversation with their endless gaze.

"Were you scared?" Lyla was the first one to break the silence.

"I was. I've let you down once again. I'm sorry for unable to protect you like i promise you to. When i saw the bullet hits you,,," He's unable to finish his sentence when he remembered the scene that made his heart burst in pain.

"Hubby, look at me. I'm still here. I won't leave you." She hold onto his face and smile sweetly at him. He nodded before planting another kiss onto her hand.

"I won't let you leave me." He vowed. She nodded her head and snuggle to him closely and lay her head on his chest. Her most favourite place. Just like that, she slept with him by her side.
