Chapter 272 - World 10.10

"Ehhhh??!!! Where did he go?" Xianyu asked himself. Since it was still a bit early and Sun Wei and Qi Zhou weren't home, he decided to enter the forest. Since he saw the fireflies again, he now wanted to conduct his own investigation.

The moonlight shone brightly above him, its dim light helped him to recognize the pathway. The quiet night met his ears, but was followed by the cricket sounds when he moved deeper. The shadow from the skyscraper's tall trees were making it more secluded and thick. His steps were croaking the dry leaves under his feet. "Hello?" he called out. "Mister?!!" only his voice echoed back.

He walked deeply towards the forest, not even remembering where he started. Suddenly, the quiet surroundings from earlier turned disturbing. He heard some growls and snarls until blazing yellow eyes appeared on his way. The eyes hiding from the fog slowly became clear; they are wolves.

"I didn't know that there are wolves here," Xianyu murmured, lowering his voice. He focused on his surroundings while the beast was approaching him. Five wolves with their gritting teeth formed their position around Xianyu. This time, his eyes turned sharp.

Two wolves jumped, Xianyu dodged it. He rolled on the ground and clenched his fist as a red light crackled on his fingers forming a long like whip. He stood up and swayed it in the air; it left a powerful gust tracing the stance of the two wolves, delivering them to pain.

Xianyu ran away. He had the skills, but he didn't want to attract more enemies, besides this wolf is the protector of the forest. He was good at running, but this time; he was unfortunate.

"Argh!!!" Xianyu groaned when a rock accidentally hit his toes. He fell down and his face hit the ground. He spit some leaves that got into his mouth and rubbed his eyelids to clear his eyes. "I shouldn't have followed that mysterious man!!!" he exclaimed, letting his voice echo in the area.

Another group of yellow eyes emerged on his side. He scratched his head. "You guys are never really giving me a break," he cursed out. Because he was now a bit irritated at this non-stop attack.

Xianyu took a deep breath, channeling his energy. He opened his palm and thrust it in the air. A purple like ball flashed and struck the group of wolves, and because it was a bit strong, the trees also fell and cut into halves. It caused a thick smoke that he used to run away.

He couldn't remember the way anymore, and he could feel that something already drained him out. The wolves are too many for him. He just wanted to retreat and go back now. Xianyu was still lacking techniques and skills and he had no time to fight with them.

He trailed the forest deeper. At first he could still clearly see the way, but as the time went by, it was getting blurry and difficult to see. Xianyu slid down and clenched his chest. He gasped for air, and using continuous Qi wasn't good for him, Rouhan told him. He didn't want to pass out here in the forest.

After taking slow breaths, Xianyu snapped himself back. But his head was turning, and he was feeling very dizzy.

"Do you need help?"

Cold and calm, those are the words that can describe that voice. It tickled Xianyu's ears for a moment before he got the chance to look around. Because he was still crouching on the ground, only the leather boots meet his eyes. He slowly raised his head and once again, he saw the mysterious man.

"Who are you?"

Instead of getting an answer, the man also crouched down in front of him. Everything was dark and so was his face. The moonlight was already behind the clouds and the fog was thicker in this part of the forest, so Xianyu couldn't see his face.

A smirk stretched the mysterious man's cheeks before he held Xianyu and carried him.

"W-What are y-you doing?" Xianyu asked after feeling the levitating sensation away from the ground.

Silence fell between them.

The mysterious man trudged forward. He didn't take a turn. He was very familiar in the big forest. Xianyu, who was still in his embrace, leaned his head on the man's chest.

He was feeling his heart, but he couldn't find it. Every now and then, the mysterious man paused for a bit, then he looked at Xianyu to check on him if he was okay.

Meanwhile, Xianyu couldn't even see or glance at his face because he was wearing a hood.

"Why is he helping me? Did he know me? Is he living near the forest?" So many questions ran inside his mind, but too shy to ask.

After a minute, Xianyu finally saw the shack. A smile escaped his lips. He was safe now.

The mysterious man stopped and gently put him down. "Don't go wandering at night," he said, brushing the male's hair.

Xianyu was struck by that enchanting voice again. Whenever it reaches his ears, he will feel some shivers.

He tried to open his lips to mumble the words "T-Thank you."

The moon that was hiding behind the clouds earlier slowly peek, giving them enough light to see each other's face.

But before Xianyu could see the man's face, it turned around. He ended up seeing only his thin lips. "Who are you?" Xianyu asked.

The man who was now trudging back to the forest stopped. He didn't turn his back around to face Xianyu. "Let's meet again someday," he mumbled.

Xianyu's face became more confused. How is that man so sure of meeting him someday? He halted and tried to follow the mysterious man's pace. "Wait!" He exclaimed. "Do you know me?" He asked, wishing for an answer.

This time, the mysterious man turned his head, flashed a smirk to Xianyu, and put his index finger on his lips. "It's a secret,"

And before Xianyu could react, small lights flew around the male. Leaving bright traces in the air until he disappears.
