Transmigrated Into The Book

When he opened his eyes, he was totally in an unfamiliar place. Screams and cries from people with blurry faces. The houses were on fire, everything was hot. Under that moonlight, the quiet night wasn't peaceful. There are children running everywhere and some are asking for mercy. 

He slid down between trembling legs. He started to feel dizzy and nauseous, like he wanted to puke. He lowered his head and faced the ground, then he started to throw up. Everything was so unfamiliar, the pungent smell of blood and the faces of dead people. 

As he wiped the side of his lips, a familiar voice called him out. His head spun around, finding where it came from. He stood up and walked unconscious, not even knowing where he was heading. In his deep thoughts, a tight clasp made him jolted. "My child!" a voice exclaimed. It was hoarse and shallow. 

He looked closer at the face of the man gripping him. He was trying to recognize his face but he couldn't; he didn't know this man. It was all blurry. "You need to run away! The curse will kill you!!!" A scream bangs his ears. "Are you listen…" before he could give an answer, blood spurted on him and on his face. The old man clinging to him a while ago fell down in front of his eyes, showering with his own blood. 

"Xianyu?"

"Xianyu"

"Xianyu!"

Xianyu sprang up and gasped a big air. His sweats started to fall down on his cheeks. He pants while catching his breath. He didn't know what to do or what to say first.

"Are you okay?" that deep and calm voice tickled his ears. When he turned around, he saw a familiar face leaning closer to him. "What happened?" Xianyu finally asked.

Yuan straightened his neck, then he leaned closer to the male. "You are grunting and murmuring while you're asleep," he shot a glance at Xianyu. "You must be having a nightmare," he added. 

After hearing that he was grunting and stuff, the shivers crawling from his system made him shy. "Am I?!" Xianyu blurted out, just by seeing his face sleeping is creeping him. "I-I'm s-sorry!" he exclaimed, bowing his head from embarrassment.

"Hmm?" Yuan watched how his cheeks would turn cherry red. He scoffed and giggled. "Why are you so shy?" He pulled the male's head and leaned it on his shoulders. "You can lean on me if you're scared," he said, then his fingers gently brushed the threads of Xianyu's hair. 

The touch from the male made Xianyu stunned and startled at the same time. The way Yuan stroked his hair was so warm, like it was melting him. He didn't know, but he was like a child right now, wanting more affection. He didn't know what caused it, maybe because Yuan comforted him the moment he opened his eyes from that nightmare. 

The moonlight was shining brightly while peeping at the clouds; the stars were also accompanying the big full moon. It was a peaceful night for them.

In the middle of the comforting atmosphere, the wagon that was freely taking its wheels suddenly jogged and shook. The two youths at the back also struggle to gather themselves up. 

The horse pulling the wagon neighed and galloped very loud and forcefully; it made the old man in front scared. He tried to calm his horse down, but it seems like it became more agitated. 

Xianyu didn't know, but there was something inside him that jolted up like a string from his consciousness snapped. He stood up and raised his hand; he let his palm face the sky. A bright yellow light glowed, turning into a circle array above them like a shield. Before they could even blink their eyes, a hundred arrows started to fly towards them out of nowhere. 

"I KNEW IT!" Xianyu exclaimed as he let the arrows hit the big array he just made.

"What is happening?" Both the old man and Yuan asked in unison.

Xianyu shot a glance at them, "There are bandits and they are setting us in their traps, don't worry.. I will protect you," As he said the last sentence, his eyes only fixated on Yuan. 

When the arrows were already gone, Xianyu hopped down from the wagon and blocked his arms in the air. "Don't panic, they must be near," he ordered. 

Xianyu wasn't wrong. After a couple of minutes, a group of burly men emerged from the dark forest. Some of them have axes, swords, and daggers in their hands. The one in front of them that looks like the leader showed a grin. "You guys are extraordinary," he commented. 

The other men behind him laughed their stomachs out, "We can sell them in the market, they look expensive" His eyes turned to Yuan "Especially that one over there," then he laughed creepily. 

Xianyu became more agitated as he glared back. "What do you want?!" he yelled with his voice full of authority.

Yuan didn't move, he observed their surroundings first. He didn't want the mouths of those bandits or terrorists blocking their way. They assaulted them right in front of their eyes, luckily Xianyu sensed it and blocked their attacks using his magical array. 

The group of burly men walked closer to them with the cunning grins on their faces. Xianyu prepared himself. He will attack if any of them jump in their wagon. 

Yuan's lips twitched in disappointment. The bangs beside his face revealed his red eyes. It glowed and flickered when he moved his head and gazed at the group of bandits.

Xianyu didn't know but their faces slowly turned aghast and before they could move, the ground opened up then a black like abyss pulled everyone down on the ground.

They all disappeared in a blink of an eye." What happened?" Xianyu mumbled in astonishment. He looked at Yuan. The male also looked at him and shrugged his shoulders down.

"I didn't even make a move. What the hell was that?" Xianyu mumbled to himself before hopping back to the wagon again. The old man thanked them and started the ride once again.

"You are amazing," Yuan complimented the male sitting beside him. "You scared them all off," he added. 

Xianyu then looked at him with a puzzled face, "I didn't know what happened," he said with his eyes gazing at the moon above them. "I was just planning on scaring them off when the ground slowly opens and eat them all," he stated.
