Chapter 305 - World 10.43
At the very corner of the palace halls, there was the room of the royal second prince. He wanted it to be at the edge to avoid noises. The second Prince hates loud noises and chaotic scenes, so he wanted to avoid it. A righteous man, indeed with simple gestures that can bring chills to your spine.
His room was wide and elegant, with the freshly picked flowers that were changed every morning. The thin white curtains were swaying above the open window, soft chimes. The room was painted in a royal peach with extravagant yet simple wall curves. Everything was arranged neatly, with titles and orders.
In the corner of his room were small shelves with books, a square study table with papers and inks. If you are going to take a look, the second prince had a talent in calligraphy. His handwriting is light, so it is easy to read. If he is going to send a love letter to a princess, that lady will probably answer him without even reading the letter, just by staring at how pretty his hand writings are.
Though files and documents never left his table, for he is a prince with duty. Just when Yi-Lin was about to dip the edge of the pen into the ink, a light knock echoed from his door. He put the pen down and replied. "Come in,"
The door slid open, then those loud footsteps trudged towards the table where the second prince was sitting. Although Yi-Lin was busy scanning the other documents, he already recognized those steps. He paused from flipping the pages and frowned. "Your footsteps are noisy. It's bothersome," he was a bit annoyed. "What's wrong, father?" he asked.
The emperor, who was now standing tall in front of him, slammed his palm on the table. It made the other documents bounce and the ink from its container spilled some small dots on the clean paper. "Yi-Lin!!" he yelled.
The room's atmosphere turned dark and stiff.
The emperor, Huanxue, crooked his eyebrows and glared at his personal guards, which means that he wanted a time alone with his son. His personal guards bowed their heads lower than their chest before trudging outside.
When the two were now alone, Yi-Lin didn't lose his composure. He still had his blank expression on his face, waiting for his father to speak. The second prince is always like this. You will never guess if he was angry or upset. Whether his father, the emperor, would yell at him, he would just greet him with silence.
"What game are you playing?" Huanxue didn't yell, but you can sense the annoyance in his tone.
Yi-Lin's lips curved in a slight smirk. "Why are you suddenly asking me that?" he asked in a gentle voice.
Huanxue became more irritated, because he knew his son very much. Talking to him with such gentleness wouldn't lead him at ease. He knew that Yi-Lin had this stirring, fiery feeling inside him just by asking that question. "A prince, letting a prisoner live in the palace with leisure!" he exclaimed. "Have you gone insane? Where are your etiquettes?"
This time, Yi-Lin raised one of his eyebrows and lifted his head from the chair he was sitting on. "Father, your voice is too loud, it's hurting my ears…" he replied instead before turning his head back to the documents he was reading.
Huanxue gritted his jaw, "There is a bandit who has entered the palace and yet you are here sitting in front of your study table doing nothing! All this happened when you took that prisoner carelessly!", he raged in anger at his sharp tone. "What a shame! Do you ever consider yourself as a righteous prince? Yi Lin!!"
"Father…" Yi-Lin put down the paper back to the table and tucked it into another book. "I told you to lower your voice," he clicked his tongue. "I am aware of my actions, so stop meddling with my plans.." Yi-Lin left a distance from the table, he raised his right foot and within a second, the table flew to the corner of the room by his kick. It made a loud impact, which made the wall break. The documents flew in the air as it scattered all over the room. "Such bothersome," he mumbled.
When Yi-Lin was about to turn around, the emperor grabbed his wrist. "You dare turn your back to me while I'm still giving you a lecture!" he yelled, stern. You can see that he wasn't even provoked by his son's action a while ago.
This time, a light chuckle escaped the second prince's lips. His head slowly spun and within his eyes, you can see his cold, sharp hazel brown eyes. "Stop meddling with my business, emperor Huanxue." his chilly voice is now trembling, like he was holding so much authority.
After witnessing the rage in his eyes, Huanxue unconsciously let go of the prince. But he didn't accept defeat. He clenched his fist and yelled. "Are you threatening me? I am your father! The emperor and the ruler of this kingdom!!"
Yi-Lin lowered his head. He scoffed a laugh. "Emperor?" he said. "Are you that proud of your throne?," he gazed at Huanxue with an evil smirk. "Father, aren't you the one who went insane by stea----"
"ENOUGH!"
Bai Huanxue pierced Yi-Lin with his blazing hazel brown eyes, the same as his son. He was furious that the nerves on his forehead were almost popping from his rage.
Yi-Lin sighed, shrugging his shoulders down. "My my, the documents are now scattered on the floor," he saw the splattered ink, flowing freely, spreading its black color to the clean floor. "I need servants to clean my room," his face went back to his usual look.
The prince brushed his face, "Now I need to get another copy from the ministry," he snorted as he walked past the emperor, tapping his shoulders. "Excuse this shameful Prince, your highness." Though calm, his words were heavy.
Huanxue stayed in his stance until he heard Yi-Lin's footsteps trudging towards the door. Leaving him alone.
