Chapter 306 - World 10.44

"Where is he?,"

Xianyu mumbled a soft breath as he rubbed his palms on his shoulders. His gaze went to the moon above. It was a very clear view. He had been looking out the window for almost an hour. The royal guards searched his chamber thoroughly, and they found nothing. It was a relief for him and for Li Jing.

He thought that they would get caught earlier, but Yuan quickly jumped out of the window. Though after that, they lost contact. There he thought that they could solve everything with no obstacle, but then he went silent for a while, 'Is it okay for Yuan to stay here?,' he mumbles.

Xianyu's eyes went far away, into the portrait in front of him. The chilly night once again blew a gentle breeze, caressing his skin as it flew his hair gracefully. The moon peeked underneath the thin clouds.

The truth is, he was about to lay down on his bed to sleep, but he couldn't. He was worried. Li Jing just called Yuan the 'demon prince', and the second prince, Yi-Lin, is looking for him. What happened in the past? Did they have a conflict? What about Yuan's father?

"Gah!" Xianyu snorted as he grabbed his hair in dismay. "What am I even thinking? Why am I even here?" he swayed his head. The threads of his hair fell onto his shoulders. It was messy. He had already removed his ribbon, and was really about to sleep.

He turned around; he pulled down the thin curtains to cover the moonlight from outside. Xianyu parted away from the window and was about to approach the bed when a sudden knock rang behind his doors.

"Eh?" Xianyu jolted. "Who's that?" he asked, scanning the shadow with a lamp. The lights in the hallways were already off and if you want to stroll around at night, which is prohibited, you need to carry a light.

"It's me," the familiar voice answered. "Can I come In?" he asked.

Xianyu trudged towards the door and slid it into a small space, enough for the figure to be fitted. He turned his head sideways to check if no one was around. After that, he quickly pulled the other male forward and closed the door. "What are you doing here, your highness?" Xianyu asked.

The Prince was surprised by their sudden skinship. Though it was a split second, he can still feel the grasp on his wrist.

Xianyu felt that he did wrong. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to touch you so casually!" he blurted out.

Xianyu felt that he did wrong, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to touch you so casually!" he blurted out.

Yi-Lin smiled. He stepped forward and put the lamp he was holding on the table. "Can't sleep?" he asked, watching the dancing fire inside the enclosed glass. That was the only light they had, because it was prohibited in the palace to stay late at night.

Everyone must get a proper sleep, especially the royals.

Xianyu realized the rules. He averted his gaze and chuckled. "Eh he he...your highness...ermm" he stammered, thinking of a reason.

Before that, Yi-Lin scoffed into a small laughter. "Are you scared that I might punish you?" he asked. "While I'm also here, sneaking around at night?"

That sudden laughter made Xianyu feel at ease. He was about to go to sleep; he was saying it repeatedly and guess what? He's still up, wide awake.

"I came here because I'm worried." Yi-Lin pulled a chair and sat down. "I heard that there was a bandit roaming around the palace. Do you know any of this?" he asked, looking straight into the male's eyes.

Xianyu gulped. He felt his dry throat. When the prince was talking to him, he would say it in a soft and mellow tone, but this time, he was a bit stern. Adding a little authority to his eyes.

"I-I don't k-know anything, your highness!" Xianyu blurted out.

"I-I don't k-know anything, your highness!" he blurted out.

The sharp gaze from Yi-Lin's eyes vanished. He shrugged and sighed. "I knew it," he said sluggishly as he leaned his chin on the table. "I knew you would never tell me about this. You don't trust me at all." His lips turned downward and his eyes became sad.

"Ehh?" Xianyu blinked and was taken aback. "Your highness?" he asked. 'What happened to him? He was gazing at me intently a while ago and now he was shrugging at me?' Xianyu thought.

Yi-Lin turned his head around as he released another sigh. "Nevermind," he uttered.

Xianyu almost felt the guilt just from hearing the way the prince talked. It made him avert his gaze, sweat dripping from his forehead. 'Did he already find out? If he finds out, does he know it's Yuan?' some thoughts formed inside his mind.

Both turned silent.

"Uhh..y-your highness?"

Xianyu tried to break the silence, but the other male didn't move an inch from the table. He thought that the prince might fall asleep at his study table. Xianyu stepped closer to check, but when he was about to bend down, Yi-Lin grabbed his wrist and pinned him down on the bed.

When their eyes met, Xianyu was underneath, and Yi-Lin was on top of him.

"Y-Yi-Lin?" Xianyu called him not by courtesy but by his name. He didn't know, but Yi-Lin's eyes were cold with a blank expression. It made him a little nervous.

If the prince is doing it to interrogate him secretly, then should it be better to talk in a nice way?

'Is this how Yi-Lin interrogates?' He mumbled to himself. Xianyu winced as soon as he realized that Yi-Lin was holding one of his hands. 'Did he get angry because I called him by his name?' He thought again.

Yi-Lin didn't let him go. "Xianyu," he mumbled. His voice was so chilly that it gave goosebumps to the male under him. "Do you trust me?" he asked.

Nervous, Xianyu nodded his head vigorously. His eyes couldn't escape the prince's gaze. It made his pupils wider when Yi-Lin bent down and parted his own lips.

Xianyu closed his eyes tight, thinking that he would receive a bite from the male. But when Yi-Lin was inches down to his neck, a gust of wind blew that it almost tore the thin curtains of the window.

Both males on the bed spun their heads to the emerging shadow beside them.

"I knew it!" Yi-Lin exclaimed.
